responsAbility moves into new headquarters at Zürich Hauptbahnhof

1 February 2021 – responsAbility Investments, a key player in the sustainable investment space, has moved into new offices at the main train station in Zürich. The move had been planned since 2016 in order to bring all Zürich employees under one roof. It also offered the asset manager a chance to align more closely with its climate-friendly values, by reducing its office-related emissions by over 80%. While Covid-19 home office restrictions in Switzerland mean that the move on the 1st is purely operational, it offers some hope on the horizon in a return to a new normal.

With a new office address at Zollstrasse 17, responsAbility HQ sits directly on the outdoor tracks of the train station, specifically Track 18, where the company logo is prominently displayed. This will not only reunite employees who have been split between two offices since 2016, it also offers a prime location for the company and, by association, sustainable investing in general, as nearly 3,000 trains come in and out of Zürich HB every day.

Construction was delayed due to the pandemic, as the original move was planned for November 2020. However, with the building now complete, further delays were not logical or economical and operations needed to move forward. So while the address change is official, employees will not transition to the new premises until a later, yet unknown date, as mandatory home office and other restrictions remain in Switzerland.

Highlighting the company pride in the sustainable nature of the building, Chief Operating Officer Michael Fiebig said, “We are not only coming back together under one roof, we are building back better. This means that there is no way we will go back to our pre-crisis CO2 footprint per staff member.” The building features 100% renewable energy, a green roof, and other critical design standards that follow the Minergie-P Eco standard and DGNB Swiss Silver 2015. He added, “Plus, it gives everyone something to look forward to after the countless hours spent at home during the pandemic. The excitement and energy of the new space will help drive our business to the next level.”
