SIFEM Invests USD 15 Million in Jungle Ventures V to Foster Innovation in Asia

Zurich, November 13, 2024 – The Swiss Investment Fund for Emerging Markets (SIFEM), managed by responsAbility Investments AG, has committed USD 15 million to Jungle Ventures V, L.P. This investment marks the beginning of a more systematic approach by SIFEM to invest in venture capital funds to support small and early-stage innovative companies in emerging markets.

Jungle Ventures is one of the largest independent venture capital firms in Southeast Asia and India, having raised over USD 1 billion across five funds. The firm has supported more than 60 high-growth technology companies, enabling entrepreneurs to become national, regional, or global industry leaders. Jungle Ventures addresses critical challenges, such as market access and market inefficiencies across the region.

This investment aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)1 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), thereby promoting innovation and economic inclusion. 

responsAbility as Portfolio Manager of SIFEM responsAbility has managed the SIFEM portfolio since March 1, 2023, bringing its extensive expertise in impact investing to support SIFEM’s mandate. This mandate involves promoting investments that contribute to long-term, sustainable economic growth in developing and emerging countries.
